The economic indicators include increases in productivity in the United States and it is no secret as to why. Productivity signals efficiency and that speaks to America’s strength and competitiveness. It also shows that we are innovative, process driven and have the most efficient workforce on the planet, when coupled with modern management techniques high tech machinery.
If our nation is so focused on productivity and efficiency then why aren’t you in your business? Nearly every Fortune 500 has Six Sigma “processes programs” looking and searching for inefficiencies and defects in manufacturing and information and paper flow. They leave no stone unturned and their reward is more efficiency, productivity and that equates to profits.
In any business efficiency is the key, waste is evil and you and your staff need to make this one of your company’s primary objectives. You need to make this part of the soul of your company, embed these ideals into your mission statement and let this philosophy permeate your company allowing you to increase profits, delete was and win in the market place.
Where You Should Start
The best place to start with a productivity program is with your team. You must educate your team and it makes sense to hire a consultant to come in and explain it to them. Why it’s necessary and what it means to the company’s future, their future and your place in the competitive race to be number one in the industry.
It’s up to each and every employee, line manager and executive to work together to find the wasted energy, the wasted time and the excess waste of material or unnecessary duplication where ever it may hide. So, please consider all this.
